Senegal – Kamyaak Village

Touristic tours, getting to know the true Senegal.
Double and shared room.

About the project

After years of working at the local level in isolated rural areas, with inhabitants of the Sine Saloum region among others, a dozen young people decided to join forces in a more global project: The JiwNit association was born in Dakar in 2018. Then extended to Germany and France in 2019.
“Jiw” in Wolof means seed, “Nit” means human.
JiwNit is an association based in Senegal that brings together dozens of young Senegalese and internationals, sharing a vision of development that first involves an awareness of the power of humanity, of love, of the relationship with oneself and with what surrounds us.

JiwNit is an association that supports environmental, cultural, ecological, agricultural, educational and social projects. It bases its actions on the creation of other alternatives to meet our existential needs in both rural and urban areas.
The projects led by the association are part of a logic of self-realization, another way of thinking about development, while valuing intercultural and spiritual exchanges based on the BaayFaal philosophy of patchwork, which means sewing together different colors, people, and cultures by the thread of love.
Specifically, the purpose of the association is to:
– Contribute to local development through a solidarity and participative approach
– Contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the populations concerned by the social, cultural and educational plans
– Promoting peace, living together, and tolerance towards people

Aware that in the 21st century the role of os Humans must no longer be destructive but saving, the return to the human being is essential. This is the ambition of the association: to sow a seed of humanity to respond to current social and nutritional issues as well to address happiness of the inhabitants.

About the homestay

Two rooms, each with maximum 3 single/ 1 double bed are available. The rooms are provided with a mattress, bed sheets, a mosquito net and electricity. Toilets and showers are nearby in another building.
Tataguine, the next biggest village, offers a market every Thursday which can be explored. You should also explore the traditional village life in and around Kamyaak.

According to your income and your willingness we offer you to contribute between 10-35€ per night, instead of a fixed price. The money goes directly into the project and gives us the possibility to employ and pay people for their work. We think that social tourism only works through exchange, that also means giving everyone the opportunity to visit us. Bringing people together with different backgrounds, cultures, thoughts, lifes and ideas to discuss, exchange and learn from each other is our aim.
