About the project
Qosqo Maki is an association created in 1990 that contributes towards the improvement of the life conditions of the children and youth in the streets of Cusco, Peru. Many of the children have decided to leave their families for a while, after daily situations that affected their physical and emotional health. We want the children and youth of the streets to take part in the educational services at Qosqo Maki. Through our programs the children are being equipped with enough social competencies to build and develop their own personal lives, to assume responsibilities and reinforce their abilities. Our NGO has four programs:
1. Overnight accommodation program, open to children and youth who have nowhere to spend the night
2. Library/playroom space
3. Bakery and carpentry training workshops
4. Solidarity tourism program
Our mission is to care for and educate the youth in the streets, so they can learn about and practice their rights as autonomous citizens, while enjoying themselves.
About the homestay
Qosqo Maki offers a solidary tourism experience, including several rooms with private or shared bathrooms, 24/7 hot water, computers, newspapers, Wi-Fi connection and a kitchen-dining room where you can prepare your meal. The association is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and has been powered by solar energy since 2016. We will be happy to give you advice on the different tourist destinations and hikes in the Cusco region.

I had the chance to stay at Qosqo Maki during my holidays in Cusco and the experience was amazing!
Qosqo Maki is THE place you need to go if you stop at Cusco for several days. The team is very nice, you can participate in the activities with the kids in the library and share your meal in the kitchen with the volunteers during the day.
I recommend you this place, I felt like at home :)

We stayed for several nights at Qosqo Maki and we were very happy with our decision to stay at an “social Hostel”. The team was very friendly, the bedroom was clean and spacious. We could leave parts of our luggage in the house for some days, while we were hiking the Salkantay Trek. It was a good place to stay and a very positive project to support!
