This is what your adventure trip looks like

2-Week Program in Eswatini – Savannah Research & Conservation in the Mbuluzi Game Reserve Welcome to your research adventure in one of southern Africa’s most unique protected areas.

as. At the Savannah Research Centre (SRC) in the Mbuluzi Game Reserve, you’ll work as a field research assistant alongside experienced biologists. You’ll count birds, set small mammal traps, analyze camera trap data, conduct vegetation surveys, and photograph giraffes, hyenas, and zebras for citizen science databases to monitor global populations. Your research area encompasses not only the private Mbuluzi Game Reserve, but also the Mlawula Nature Reserve in the Lubombo Conservancy—a global biodiversity hotspot. You will investigate how protected areas, rural communities, and commercial agriculture interact—and make a real contribution to the understanding and protection of threatened savanna ecosystems. You’ll live in a tented camp on the banks of the Mbuluzi River, surrounded by giraffes, kudus, zebras, and over 300 bird species. The facilities are basic—outdoor toilets, outdoor showers, electricity is available from solar panels and can depend on the weather —but authentic and right in the middle of the wilderness.
