I am a biologist and an avid conservationist
The main objective is to protect the population of the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) that nests along the Ionian coast of Calabria, which is recognized as the species’ primary nesting area in Italy.
Research and Monitoring
Research and monitoring of sea turtles at the national level, particularly regarding the study of the ecology and reproductive biology of Caretta caretta in Calabria.
Conservation and Prevention
Mitigating and addressing the most significant conservation issues that threaten the survival of sea turtles and coastal marine environments, including through collaboration with environmental organizations and public and private entities
Location
How to get there
Travel arrangements are to be made independently. The destination is Palizzi or Brancaleone on the Ionian coast of Calabria.
Travel options:
By plane: Stretto di Reggio Calabria Airport or Lamezia Terme Airport, then by bus to the Reggio Calabria Centrale train station and by regional train to Palizzi or Brancaleone
By train: From the west coast (Tyrrhenian), transfer at Reggio Calabria Centrale toward Roccella Ionica/Catanzaro; from the east coast (Ionian), take a direct train to Palizzi or Brancaleone
By car: Take the A3 highway toward Reggio Calabria, exit onto the SS 106 toward Taranto, then continue to Palizzi

Cancellation Policy
- A cancellation of this tour is possible at any time.
- If you cancel at least 30 days before the date of travel, there is no cancellation fee.
- If you cancel between 29 and 15 days before the departure date, 20% of the tour price will be charged.
- If the cancellation is made between 14 and 8 days before the departure date, 50% of the tour price will be charged.
- If the cancellation is made between 7 and 1 day before the departure date, 80% of the tour price will be charged.
