Protect loggerhead sea turtles on one of Italy's most important nesting beaches
This is what your adventure trip looks like
7-Day Trip to Calabria – Sea Turtle Conservation on the Ionian Coast.
Welcome to one of the most important nesting beaches for the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) in all of Italy. Along the Ionian coast of Calabria, in the province of Reggio Calabria, the NGO Caretta Calabria Conservation has been protecting the nests of this endangered sea turtle species since 2012. Over the course of ten seasons, the specialized team and volunteers from all over Italy and abroad have identified and protected around 600 nests—and helped over 30,000 hatchlings make their way to the sea.
