Join a one-week sailing trip to protect whales and dolphins in the Mediterranean
This is what your adventure trip looks like
Join the expedition and research team of a local NGO dedicated to protecting and studying the behavior of whales and dolphins in the Mediterranean.
Activities You’ll assist with data collection and sailing activities. The animals are located using sound detection, and the boat is then slowly maneuvered closer to them. Participants and researchers take turns observing every hour until dolphins or whales are sighted. During sightings, your task is to film, collect behavioral data, record sounds, and take photographs to identify the animals. This data forms the basis for future protected areas and population assessments. Afterward, the photos are cross-referenced with the database, and any new animals are named and documented. In the evenings, the boat is moored in the port of Ischia, so you can explore the island.
