The Homestay is a traditionally built house with only one groundfloor.The house is surrounded by farmland, which grows the vegetables for the traditional food that will be served.It is located close to the nearby passing stream and has has a beautiful view of the landscape and the surroundding mountains.The family living there there consists of 4 adults, out of which one workes as a trekking guide...

Your host will be a typical Ladakhi Family, often with some cattle and farmland.
LEHO is an Indian NGO founded in 1991.
It has many projects focusing on the improvement of Ladakh, on the topics of sustainability, ecotourism, water management and education, with an overall goal to raise awareness on climate issues.
Activities
Trekking, Museum visit, visit rock arts, village walk, learn about medicinal plants, visit the Gyapa Cho Khar palace (300 y/o) and an old Stupa (over 800 y/o), hike to waterfall (Kilam Tokpo), there is a new and an old monastery

When arrived in Leh, you will follow the Leh-Manali-Highway which will bring you south-eastwards.The road leads along the Indus-river upstream passing the village Kharu.The next village will be Upshi where you have to turn right and leave the Indus valley by crossing the river.From than on you only have to follow the highway untill you will finally arrive in Gya...
