Coral reefs are among the most valuable and at the same time most threatened ecosystems on our planet. In Indonesia – one of the most biodiverse marine regions in the world – our partner organization We Do Ocean is actively working on the protection and restoration of these vital habitats.

Now, we're launching a special project together: A new coral reef off the east coast of Bali – built with Reefstars and planted with young corals that bring new life to the ocean.

Join us and become part of this movement for healthy reefs and strong coastal communities!

Why?

Coral reefs cover only 1% of the ocean floor – yet they are home to a quarter of all marine life. They serve as nurseries, shelter, and a vital food source for thousands of species, while also supporting the livelihoods of millions of people worldwide.

But due to climate change, overfishing, and pollution, more than 50% of the world’s reefs have already been destroyed. Without targeted protection and restoration efforts, these valuable ecosystems are at risk of disappearing entirely.

Coral planting is currently the most effective way to fight back.

Impact

Our partner We Do Ocean is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and restoration of coral reefs in Indonesia – the global hotspot of underwater biodiversity.

They use MARRS Reef Stars – sturdy, hexagonal steel structures that are planted with up to 18 hard coral fragments. These structures are scientifically monitored to better understand coral growth conditions and help make reefs more resilient for the future.

Join us

With a donation of just 30 euros, we can plant a new reef star with 18 corals.

If you’d like, your donated reef star will carry a name tag with your name. We’ll document everything – with photos and videos – so you can see the impact you’ve made. And of course, we’ll keep you updated on the reef’s growth.

You’re also welcome to get involved on site and support the local team with planting – either as a certified diver, or by getting your diving certification locally.

After an introductory dive to get familiar with the restoration area, you’ll take part in a guided coral collection dive and a coral planting dive, where you'll learn how to attach coral fragments to a reef star and help build a new reef from the ground up.
