socialbnb projects characteristics

About your accomodation

Enter one of the ancestral communities of Oaxaca - Apoala - through the furniture, textiles and finishes of your room.
This accommodation is a tribute to Mixtec nature and culture, based on the turquoise blue of its waterfalls, lagoons and rivers, and honours Santiago Apoala, the place where, according to the Mixtec codices, the world was mythically created.
You will have your private room with a double bed and a private bathroom. All rooms have a desk, towels, biodegradable shampoo and soap.In addition, you have access to the communal spaces like the terrace and the shared kitchen (from 8:00 am until 10:00 pm).
Important for you to know: Our rooms do NOT have water toilets, because we want to avoid the waste of such a valuable resource and the pollution of lakes, rivers and seas that its use generates.Instead, we use dry toilets where our excreta can return to the cycle of nature and become, with the proper composting process, fertile soil...

The socialbnb idea

Support the region you are traveling to, as the price you pay is directly benefitting the local project.

Activities

Niyana is very close to the traditional "Mercado de la Merced", one of the icons of Oaxacan gastronomy and diversity. As we are located in the Historic Centre of Oaxaca, you have everything closeby: different churches, museums, art galleries, the "Zócalo" and many more.
You can make daytrips to Monte Albán (around 8 km from here), to Mitla (44 km) and Tule Tree (10 km). Let us know and we are happy to help you. We can also arrange visits to the permaculture garden or artisans we work with, if you like to learn more about our impact...
