Since 1987, we have been developing the Ecotopía Park (>10 ha) from a degraded cattle farm into a nature reserve with integrated agroforestry and permaculture through reforestation, soil conservation, etc.. Today, the park has a relatively high biodiversity, protected springs, botanical trails, hiking trails through forests to a viewpoint on a hill, a natural pool and areas for cultural, spiritual or other activities. We organically cultivate turmeric, ginger, vanilla, fruits and vegetables, as well as indigenous and exotic plants hardly used or formerly used by indigenous people. Part of our project contents are activities for the protection of endangered plant and animal species (e.g. crocodiles, ceiba tree, native orchids, etc.) or protected
