La Hesperia is a reserve in the cloud forest of the western mountain range of the Ecuadorian Andes. We believe that treating environmental conservation and human development as two different entities neglects the intimate interconnection that exists between the two. For that reason, we protect 700 hectares and at the same time maintain productive activities using principles of organic agriculture, permaculture, and sustainable tourism.

 

Since 2009 the reserve has an agreement with the Tangare Foundation in order to conduct conservation and research projects. In addition, we run an environmental education project and support a local children’s football team.
