Hi, I'm Barbara and I’ll be happy to host you during your stay!
We welcome people from all over the world since 2006, of all ages, genders, cultures, languages and belief systems.
Our goal is to restore the damaged farm land into wild life corridors, food forests, native forests and balanced off-grid sustainable systems. Through our work we want to provide a place of welcoming, refuge, rest, peace and hope for those who pass by, for long or short visits.
On the land which is owned by a non-profit association we practice permaculture principles and offer educational courses and events (which together with our accommodation provides the financial support for our work). Our vision is to maintain this 5 hectare land and transform it into a "paradise" for many - humans, trees, animals,

How to get there
Getting here by TRAIN: Our nearest train station, a 40 min walk from us, is Alpedrinha and there is a direct route to Lisbon. For details about the train services in Portugal check
BUS: The enarest bus stop is in Fundão, a local town 15km away. Check the bus website for travel within Portugal This too has an option for English.
CAR: The GPS co-ordinates for the Mount of Oaks community are: LAT 40.06072 LONG – 7.28198 – check these details and make sure that you are coming to Castelo Novo/Alpedrinha/Povoa de Atalaia please.
