This cozy room in the white-blue Mediterranean look was handmade by us.The walls are made of straw bales and were traditionally plastered with earth from our own land.A pretty, antique and comfortable double bed and some storage space make every visit a pleasant stay.
The room offers a beautiful view of our oaks, ash trees and mimosas and invites you to relax.The kitchen and our common room are close to your room and offer you enough utensils and space to prepare and eat your meals...

Mount of Oaks/Monte dos Carvalhos is hidden in the agricultural foothills of the Serra de Gardunha mountain. We are located between the historic villages of Castelo Novo, Alpedrinha and Povoa de Atalaia in the municipality of Fundão. The nearest major towns are Covilhã to the north and Castelo Branco to the south; a perfect base for various activities such as hiking, swimming, climbing and biking. Nearby are historic villages and a local organic market...

How to get there
Getting here by TRAIN: Our nearest train station, a 40 min walk from us, is Alpedrinha and there is a direct route to Lisbon. For details about the train services in Portugal check http://www.cp.pt
BUS: The nearest bus stop is in Fundão, a local town 15km away. Check the bus website for travel within Portugal http://www.rede-expressos.pt/ This too has an option in English.
CAR: The GPS co-ordinates for the Mount of Oaks community are: LAT 40.06072 LONG – 7.28198 – check these details and make sure that you are coming to Castelo Novo/Alpedrinha/Povoa de Atalaia please.
